Comparison of Sneaker Lab to Marquee Player

This time, I shot a video for the first time. On the video, I compared 2 cleaners that I've been interesting in among sneaker care products that have been increasing these days.

If you haven't watched it yet, you can check it through the link below.

Here you can see the video.

I shot the video to show only how the looks change because it might be longer, if I talk too much. So, I summarized what I thought on this article.

Once again, these are the cleaners that I used on the video.

The left is Sneaker Cleaner from Sneaker Lab(hereinafter called SL) and the right is Sneaker Cleaner No.10 from Marquee Player(hereinafter called MP10).

The contents of SL is 50ml and it costs 880yen. The contents of MP10 is 120ml and it costs 1980yen.

In this article, I don't explain the features of these products in detail, because you can read what ther are on the official websites.

Comparison of Before and After washing

On the video I washed my uncle's Vans sneaker. But I guess, unlike pics, on the video it's hard for you to compare how the looks changed, so at first please look at pics below.

Before washing.

And next after washing.

*It's been raining a lot right now in Japan because of the rainy season, so I'm sorry the sunlight is quite different between Before and After.

The dirt and stain conditions are different between Right and Left, but both these cleaners are detergent and the dirt and stains were removed well.

Usually, in the light color suede's case, like this shoes, it's difficult to remove dirt and stains cleanly if it gets pretty dirty and stained once. So I see oft suede shoes that were dyed because of dirt and stains.

But through the pics above, you can see the dirt and staines were removed well. If you have dirty stained shoes, like Above, you don't have to get your shoes dyed or dye your shoes.

There are some people who wash a pair of leather shoes over and over or scrubbed so hard to remove dirt and stains. But that's not good for leather. So, honetly I was surprised that the sneaker became so clean even though I washed only once without scrubbing so hard.

Thoughts on Sneaker Lab

  • Biodegrading and lifting dirt, stains and shoe odor

After spraying the cleaner directly on shoes, you should wait for 2~3 mins.

I'm not very familiar with the field but according to the official website, the pro-bacteria biodegrade and lift dirt and stains in the meantime.

Basically, soak washing is not good against leather but with this cleaner you can do something, like soak washing, so I have an impression that it's easy to remove dirt and stains.

Besides it was very surprising me that the dirt and stains were removed well even though the cleaner lathered less.

And also they say that the pro-bacteria work against shoe odor and the effect last long.

  • Just wiping with towels or cloths

The cleaner lathered less and it didn't seem that the cleaner remained inside leather, but as you can see the video, I rinsed the cleaner out of the shoes.

They say you just wipe with towels or cloths after washing. Unlike usual cleaners, it doesn't take time and effort to rinse. I think that's one of the attraction of this cleaner.

  • The malfunction of the nozzle?

Although I'm not sure that the nozzle of mine was broken or it was like that and it was normal, I could only spray partially. I think it's not for spraying widely and uniformly.

The amount of the cleaner to wash a pair of shoes depends on how dirty they are, but they say on average you can spray 250 times with one bottle of cleaner, if you have been treating them with Sneaker Protector from Sneaker Lab. Also they suggest you spray 5~10 times to wash a pair of shoes, although the standard of dirt and stains is not stated on their website(By doing simple calculation, you can wash 25~50 pair of shoes with one bottle of cleaner).

Although I used the cleaner only against the dirt and stains which I could easily see, I sprayed more than they suggest.

Actually, the content of the cleaner is not so large. So in my opinion, if you'd like to wash a whole pair of shoes thoroughly or much dirtier a pair of shoes, it's not so good value for money. If the cleaner provides the sprays more widely and uniformly, I'll feel satisfied.

Thoughts on Marquee Player

  • Detergent enough

Although MP10 doesn't include bacteria, like SL, it lathered enough in small amounts and I felt that I was actually "washing", unlike SL. Besides after washing, it was easy to remove the cleaner, like using rinse aid products and it's detergent enough to remove thses dirt and stains.

According to the official website, eucalyptus extract is included and it's effective to sterilize and deodorize.

*By the way, there are some bathroom cleaners that you don't have to scrub and just wash away later. But I can't believe in those cleaners. So I always scrub and wash away to feel that I'm actually "washing". That's why I personally like MP10 because I feel that.

  • Need to rinse

According to Marquee Player, you need to rinse. Because it causes discoloration due to the remaining cleaner inside.

Peronally I don't care the process of rinsing, so there are no difference between SL and MP10 about the time it takes to finish washing. Because in SL's case you need to wait for 2~3 mins after spraying SL on shoes.

  • Good  value for money

Unlike SL, I'm satisfied that in small amounts I could wash the whole pair of shoes thoroughly. Talking about the amounts of both these cleaners I used this time to wash the pair of sneaker, I used MP10 overwhelmingly less than SL.

I've just bought both these cleaners, so I'm not sure but I guess that MP10 is better value for money than SL if I use both of them to wash dirty and stained shoes, like this sneaker that I washed this time, until I use up them.

But if the nozzle of SL works well and provides sprays widely and uniformly, that's a different story.

Summary

This time, I used both these cleaners for the first time, but I was surprised that the sneaker became clean more than I expected. Honestly, I didn't expect that especially the dirt on the right-side-heel would become that clean.

As I mentioned before, leather products shouldn't be soak-washed with cleaners , but talking about Sneaker Lab's cleaner, the pro-bacteria biodegrade and lift dirt and stains after spraying directly on shoes and in addition it didn't cause discoloration partly even though I sprayed partly. That's a big strength. If you'd like not to scrub your shoes hard, the cleaner is good for you.

Personally I'll choose only Sneaker Lab's Sneaker Cleaner if the nozzle provides sprays widely and uniformly. But this time Marquee Player's Sneaker Cleaner No.10 is better because I thought Sneaker Lab's Sneaker Cleaner is not good value for money.

Speaking from a person who bought these cleaners, I'm going to use Marquee Player's Sneaker Cleaner NO.10 as everday use and use Sneaker Lab's Sneaker Cleaner when I clean partial dirt and stains on shoes.

Both of them are good cleaners, so I'm going to use different cleaners depending on how dirt and stains are, like the right person for the right place.

In the end, I didn't mention at all in this article, but both cleaners are environmentally friendly and talking about Sneaker Lab, the package is recyclable.

As a person who repair and make shoes, I always use something chemical which is not good against the environment and body, so I'm really glad that products which is gave consideration to the environment has been increasing even if only slightly.

If you buy Sneaker Lab's Sneaker Cleaner and use it, I'd like you to make comments about how nozzle of yours works(if it's possible). I'm really curious about that.

Thank you for reading, Danke fürs Lesen.
